WordPress joins movement toward HTTPS encryption

In case you are wondering, the proposed change to add HTTPS to WordPress core doesn't mean that your self-hosted site won't still need a dedicated IP address with an SSL certificate. Both of those are necessary if you want a secure site for transactions. HTTPS will also help your site rank better for SEO purposes over competitors who do not have encrypted sites.
